During a short visit today to Mr. Uyi Akpata, the Vice president of the Nigerian Cricket Federation and Chairman of the Edo State Cricket Association by Dr. Elvis Agbonlaho, the Director of Sports, University of Benin, Mr. Uyi was appreciated for his enormous contributions toward sports development in Nigeria and Edo State in particular.

Mr. Uyi Akpata, a renowned business mogul and philanthropist  congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Lilian Salami on her meritorious achievements after only one year in office and promised to work with the University  community when the need arises.

The high point of the visit was a customized University of Benin Jersey presented to the Vice President of The Nigeria Cricket Federation and in reciprocity, Mr. Akpata gifted The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin Prof L. Salami a copy of the Nigeria U19 Cricket World Cup Jersey used in South Africa 2020 games.

This meeting is important as it is a testament to the fact that Mr. Uyi is highly invested in the development of cricket in Nigeria and especially in the Edo state university scene. This would ameliorate the development of cricket in Edo state universities and foster a healthy relationship between the school community and the state cricket association.
