The University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana is set to begin their Campus Basketball league today,12th of February, 2021. It is organized by Ghanaian FISU Student Ambassador , Mohammed Halim, after a long spell without a university game due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The basketball league will be played using the Round Robin system for 6 weeks and the teams participating are Atlantic Hall, Valco Hall, Kwame Nkrumah Hall, Student Representative Council Hall, Casford Hall, Oguaa Hall and the National Service Personnel(NSP). The NSP are students who are doing their national service on the UCC campus.

The basketball league is organised to improve sport participation on the UCC campus and to propagate sport values such as teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline.

Mohammed Halim in a meeting with Glitzsport said that the games will help the coach determine who to recruit into the school’s basketball team and claims more games will be organised in other sports with all Covid prevention protocol duly observed.

“The aim of the league is to give students the needed experience and exposure by playing in these games and a chance for them to join the university team” Mohammed explains.
