Two of Team Nigeria’s athletes at the ongoing U20 World Athletics Championship in Nairobi, Kenya have been signed to a program by Baylor Track & Field University, Texas, United States.

Nse Imaobong Uko, a student from Apostolic Church Secondary school, Akwa Ibom, is part of the victorious gold medal winning mixed 4x400m relay team at the championship and also has a personal best (PB) of 51.70s in the 400m event which saw her qualify for the final at the championship as well.

Born in 2004, the teenager made her Olympic debut in Tokyo2020 recently and is a multiple Nigerian National champion, winning gold in the 400m discipline at the 2nd All Comers Meet held in Federal University of Technology, Akure with a time of 52.07s, 3rd MoC Grand Prix in Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in 52.54s and also the 20th National Sports Festival held in Benin, Edo State.

19 year old Chinecherem Nnamdi of Great Divine Gift Secondary school, Akwa, Anambra state, has also been signed by Baylor University. Nnamdi recently landed a huge National U20 Record and Personal Best (PB) in javelin after throwing the missile to a distance of 78.02m to top qualifiers at the ongoing U20 World Athletics Championships in Nairobi.

Nnamdi won gold in javelin at the 20th National Sports Festival In Edo with a distance of 73.17m as well as finishing first in the Nigerian trials at Yaba College of Technology after throwing a distance of 73.45m. He will join Nse Imaobong Uko in the school as one of the new signees to the programme that nurtured Michael Johnson and Trayvon Bromell to greatness as too athletes.

Congratulations to both youngsters as they continue to play their way to being top athletes even as both have finals of their events coming up in the coming days in Nairobi.
