President of the Federation of African University Sports and University Sports South Africa Ms Nomsa Mahlangu was honoured by her birth province of
Mpumalanga in its annual sports awards as a “Legendary Sports Administrator” on Sunday 26th September 2021 in Mbombela.
Ms Mahlangu a director at the University of Johannesburg, and a Lifelong sport advocate was honoured for her relentless effort in the growth and development of university sports in South Africa and beyond.
The Mpumalanga Sports Awards, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, honoured several sporting legends who brought fame and to the province and the country through their achievements. Some legends excelled as coaches, administrators and promoters.
Ms Mahlangu shared her appreciation for this great recognition she said;”Thank you very much to the Mpumalanga government for recognising my work, thank you to those who recognised and nominated me for this particular recognition, let me take this time to thank my family for continuously supporting me, my grand parents who taught me the value of investing in others and I have chosen to invest in others through sports, University sports south Africa and particularly university of Johannesburg, for continuously supporting my dreams in ensuring that we make impacts in the lives of others through sports.

Ms Mahlangu was elected as the first female president of the African university sports governing body in March 2019, she is also the leader of University sports South Africa and a director of sports and recreation at the university of Johannesburg. She has received several honours as an outstanding sports administrator in South Africa including the South Africa Ministerial Recognition Awards.
